This Christmas season I am very grateful for my family.

Which reminds me -- we don't have to wait until Christmas, or a birthday, or any other special occasion for that matter, to let our families know how much they mean to us.

Some lessons I learned from Dad:

Dad always hugged Mom first when he came home.

When it comes to setting goals and taking action –
“It’s a good thing I waited!” SAID NO ONE EVER
Gut check time.
Answer honestly.

A number of years ago, Mom and Dad decided to move from their house to a retirement community. This was a major down-size in space, so our whole family pitched in to help Mom and Dad decide what to keep, what to sell, what to give away, and what to throw away.

Dad taught me many lessons in my life.

Here is what I believe is the most powerful one:

"You are what you are and where you are because of what has gone into your mind. You can change what you are, you can change where you are, by changing what goes into your mind.

Would you invest 1% of your time each day if you knew it would change your life?

1% is 14 minutes.

14 minutes a day.

It gets better.

You don't need any special abilities. You just need 14 minutes of focused time.

I remember it like yesterday.

It was my first day on the phone as a salesperson at Ziglar - 27 years ago.

I had been trained. I was as ready as I could be. I was also a little scared. At 24 years of age, I was nervous about selling our products and services to people I didn't know.

Here is the situation.

You are at a friend's house.

Your friend explains to you that there is treasure buried on his land. So much treasure that when you find it, it will change your life!

Your friend says you are welcome to search for it.

The challenge is, not every heart is ready to hear the truth.

Yet, this is what I have found - when you share the truth in love - it resonates and has a tendency over time to find a home.

Make this Christmas about Success, not Soap and Shirts!

What is your definition of success?

I am pretty sure the definition of a successful Christmas isn’t nice-smelling soap and a shirt that fits. Yet, isn’t this how most of us shop – droning from store to store, checking things off the list?

Things feel "uneasy" right now. The elections are over and the world stage feels as confused as ever.

Christmas is the time of year when hope is reborn. When we connect with family and we are reminded of our blessings.

We start to look forward to the coming year.
