One of the things I loved about my dad was the way he related to children. When we would meet new people, Dad always made it a big deal to talk to the kids.
One of the things he did was he would say, "I know your name - your name is George." Of course, the young child would try and correct him and he would just keep calling them George. They caught on really fast that he was teasing them and they would just hang around him, wanting the special attention.
Don't we all want special attention? This is what family is all about - giving special attention to those we love. Another question for you - aren't we all family?
Dad lived his life believing that everyone is family, and it's something I try to do as well. I am writing this email from Papua New Guinea and I can tell you that half-way around the world I am surrounded by the most beautiful family members.
I am also glad to tell you that I have met many children here - and they are all named George!
