Of course, I don’t mean a literal heart attack.
But if you do the following thing, your boss will grab his heart, her jaw will drop, and they just might fall out of their chair!
I have asked thousands of business owners and leaders the following question – AND NOT ONE OF THEM HAS EVER HAD THIS HAPPEN. Just think – you could be the first one to do this.
Here it is.
Go to your boss and say this:
“I have been doing some research about our industry and I found a great seminar that will help me develop my skills and knowledge so that I can help our company do better. IS IT OK IF I TAKE TIME OFF WITHOUT PAY AND PAY MY OWN WAY TO ATTEND THIS EVENT?”
Chances are, your boss will end up on the floor flopping around like a fish suddenly jerked out of the water! That alone will make the whole thing worth it!
By the way, if they say no – you can’t do that – start looking for a new job immediately!
Here is what will happen, though:
- Leadership where you work will have a whole new view of you.
- You will grow tremendously and learn more than you ever have.
- You will fully take ownership of your own future.
And if you are the boss, are you setting this example for your team by investing in yourself?
