In this show, we interview…Tom Ziglar, CEO of Ziglar, and leader of the legacy!
We recently got an iTunes 5-star review that simply said…”More Tom.” So…we aim to deliver, and today, we are!
Tom Ziglar has been CEO of Ziglar for a long time, but since Zig passed away four years ago, Tom’s impact has ramped up dramatically. Today we make him the focus. Who is Tom? How did he come to run the Ziglar empire, and why? And what does he see for all of us in the future? What is our hope, our opportunity? Our possibility?
Then we dig into one of his favorite topics…habit. This show went deep and is a profound commentary on the status of hope, encouragement, and inspiration in today’s world. This show may be the primer you need to hear before any other show. Thanks to Harry’s Razors and Lenovo for their support of this show.
Folks, I’m jumping into the record here to let you know…listen in. You’re about to hear some of Tom’s true heart, and the heart of Ziglar, so stay tuned while I thank a company we love who is helping bring today’s show to you…
I have one more personal question for Tom before we dig into habits, and I’ll tease by saying…what Tom shares regarding habits and how to instill positive habits into our lives…is profound. He showcases it in a way I’ve not heard before. We’ll resume after I thank….
Hey, Ziglar family, this is The Ziglar Show, episode 442, and I must say it may be one of the most powerful shows to date. Today we have a special guest. We interview some of the best and brightest in the world of inspiration and motivation and personal development. Many of you have read his books, heard him speak, and here on the show he is often interviewing others with me. Today you get to be inspired by the prince…of inspiration. He gives a commentary on personal development from a perspective few of us have heard before…and it’s truly significant. Listen at your own risk for getting inspired…and equipped.

OK, folks, here then I bring you…Tom Ziglar, and a journey into the heart of the Ziglar message, ending on…habits.
Tom, I want to start off by asking how you’ve seen the culture change in regards to inspiration, motivation, and positive thinking since…actually, since you were a kid growing up with Zig Ziglar as a dad. Is it any different? Are there more or less things in our favor?
>>Listen to the show
Did you ever question or grapple with the “positive thinking” message your dad espoused, in your youth?
>>Hear Tom’s responses on the program
In the recent interview you and I did with Rachel Cruze, Dave Ramsey’s daughter, I asked her when she realized the path her father had started was the path she would follow.
Now I ask you the same thing. When did you realize that continuing the Ziglar message was your vocational path?
>>Listen to Tom’s reflections on the show
What are the inspirational stories you are most drawn to? Someone going from great to excellent? The underdog who never thought they could do much, or was told they couldn’t? Or anything in between?
>>Hear what Tom shares on the show
Now, where is the area of personal development that…if you had to choose one specific area to teach and impart and guide every day all day…you’d choose?
>>Hear how Tom responds on the program
Positive thinking. Positive self-image. You grew up with it. You teach it. You have some level of mastery. Yet, you’re also human. Where is the area of your own positive self-image or positive thinking that you have to work hardest at?

So, the quote you quipped out when asked in front of an audience what you thought was the fastest way to success, is, “To replace a bad habit with a good habit.”
Simple. Concise. Direct. Actionable.
But let’s talk about HABIT.
I think many people view “successful” people as…above the norm. Possessing abnormally higher abilities and skills and realities than everybody else. Doing the right thing is just…relatively easy. When we talk about habit…it, of course, takes discipline to stick to a good, healthy habit, but it’s not superhuman. Is that how you see it? Simple? Just little daily actions?

Let me talk about some habits:
- Stretching
- Working out
- Eating healthy
- Being on time
- Being humble
- Being confident
I just listed six things. Let me uncover them:
- Stretching – nobody wants to be “flexible.” What they want is the mobility and freedom from aches and pains that flexibility gives them.
- Working out – I don’t think anyone longs to be super strong, but they want the ability that strength gives. I don’t even know that anyone wants big muscles. What they want is the credibility and image that muscles give them.
- Eating healthy – a huge part of my life and vocation is around “health.” But I don’t get a trophy for being healthy. I don’t want to be “healthy” for health’s sake. I want the benefits that health gives me. Energy, mental sharpness, and critical thinking skills and creativity and free from aches, pain, illness and disease.
- Going to bed on time – I never want to do that, but…I want to be well rested and have more energy and feel good and be able to care for my family and others.
- Being humble -
- Being confident -
Like the Porsche commercial. They don’t talk about finely stitched leather seats, horsepower, or 0 to 60. The precision suspension. The ergonomic seats. The commercial generally shows none of that. It’s the same for many, many products. What they show is…the benefits. Credibility. Respect. Thrill and status.
So, all these great habits. Do we get caught up in the label of the habit? The discipline? And not on the results?
