Why People Have No Goals Program

Everyone has individual goals but only about 3% have a well-balanced goals program. An individual goal could be something as simple as getting to work on time or losing ten pounds. It could be a negative goal like getting the next fix or the next drink. A goals program is an entirely different matter. There are many reasons people do not have a goals program. One major reason is an unrealistic or imagined fear which causes one to believe that his/her efforts will produce failure, so it is “safer” not to try.

Consider this: You could generate genuine fear in a bank teller by covering your face with a handkerchief, putting your hand in your coat pocket, pointing your finger toward the teller and saying, “This is a hold-up.” The fear would be based on the teller’s imagination but the fear would be real. It is this fear, based on false assumptions, which prevents most people from setting realistic but worthwhile goals. Combine that with the fact that many people do not understand that failure is an event and not a person and we have another reason most people don’t have a goals program.

Admittedly, there is danger in many things. There is danger when an airplane leaves the ground, but there is more danger for the plane if you permanently park it because it will deteriorate faster sitting still than it will when flying, which is why it was built. There is danger when you rent a house, because the tenants might not take care of it; but there’s even more danger if you leave the house empty. Houses deteriorate faster when empty than when occupied, which is why they are built. There’s danger in setting goals because you might not reach them, but there’s infinitely more danger in not setting them. I think having a goals program is so important that I have asked my good friend, Krish Dhanam, to give you more information about goals in a FREE webcast. This is important; you don’t want to miss it! Start your year off right with a complete goals program and I’ll SEE YOU AT THE TOP!

The basic goal-reaching principle is to understand that you go as far as you can see, and when you get there you will always be able to see farther.                                         Zig Ziglar

Eureka!

By Dan Wilson

According to legend the famed mathematician Archimedes (c. 287 BC – c. 212 BC) was relaxing in a bath when suddenly he had an epiphany about how to calculate density and volume, commonly referred to as Archimedes’ Principle.  Startling his neighbors, so the story goes, he jumped out of his tub and ran naked through the streets shouting, “Eureka, I’ve got it!  Eureka, I’ve got it!”

A recent Wall Street Journal article entitled “A Wandering Mind Heads Straight Toward Insight” tells how some of the most brilliant minds in history – including Archimedes, Sir Isaac Newton, Descartes, Einstein, Tesla and others – received their great revelations while “goofing off,” as we might call it.  The article goes on to say that modern research has, in fact, provided strong evidence that the human brain “may be most actively engaged when our mind is wandering and we’ve actually lost track of our thoughts.”  In other words, our best creativity, problem solving, and innovative ideas seem most likely to occur when we get out of the way of our own brains, allowing them to do their best behind-the-scenes work.

Of course, there is another essential element involved.  Insights, or “a-ha” moments, are most likely to occur in a prepared mind, not a lazy one.  It seems unlikely that the great epiphanies of Archimedes, et al, happened in a vacuum; rather, their brains were, in fact fertile for such revelations because they had spent countless hours preparing them.

Few of us will ever experience such break-through Eureka moments as Archimedes did.  (Hopefully, few of us will startle our neighbors by running through the streets naked, either.)  But in each of us there are epiphanies looming deep within our fertile, prepared minds.  All we need to do is get out of the way of our own brains occasionally, allowing them to do their best behind-the-scenes work.

A goal is a dream with a deadline.

It’s much better to sit tight than to drive that way.

Dignity is one thing that cannot be preserved in alcohol.

There is no situation so bad that a few alcoholic drinks won’t make it worse.

Many things can be preserved in alcohol, but Christian character is not one of them.

When I was a student many years ago, one of my professors of electrical engineer called in a Senior Lab Techician and proceeded to describe a complicated Test Rig he wanted the Technician to build. When the professor was finished, he said to the technician, ‘Did you understand all that?’ The Technician replied, ‘Well, not really’

‘I’m not surprised’ said the professor, ‘You have only had five minutes to think about it whereas I have thought of nothing else for the last five years’.

    Hello,
I’ve been working on my goal settings, since I’ve read “see you at the top”, which I recommend to you all, who want you share of sucesses in this life. Why am I recommending it? Because I know with its help I have achieved so much more in 2 years lifetime, than in the past 33 years. There really has been a life before and a life after. Thank you!
However, I’m still struggling to set my goals ever so clearly… I think I’ll need to gather some help. There are co many things I want to do. The list looks endless. It’s not pressuring me though, since I know I’m on the road I’ve chosen for myself. I just wish I ‘ll able to evaluate obstacles better and the people who can help as well… Stopo existing, Have a wonderful Life!!! It is possible! :)
